    SIMONE + TONY

    I can’t believe it’s almost that time.  I was blessed this summer to meet and photograph Simone & Tony for their whismical picnic in the park engagement session and thrilled when asked to be their for their wedding day as well.  And in just a few short weeks it will soon be Mr. & Mrs. Antonio Evans!

    Congrats to you both! Wishing you love and happiness for this day forward.

    Love,
    Malie

    Esther & Nick’s e-LOVE session

    I betcha didn’t think a bait & tackle shop could be romantic, but to even Esther & Nick’s dismay the location proved to be a beautiful setting thanks in part to the vibrant aqua marine colored building and just to the left of the building was this little gem of a garden that I didn’t even know existed until we arrived!  Well, right from the beginning I knew this e-session was going to fun, hip and playful! We first started our session just a few blocks from the Virginia Beach oceanfront and then ended our session at sunset with the two of them enjoying beers, yes I said BEERS on the beach!  Once I found out that these two love birds were laid back avid admirers of one of my favorite brews Stella Artois, I couldn’t resist in bringing beers for them to enjoy! And with their toes in the sand, the ocean waves lapping up on the shore, that is exactly what they did….

    KARMA

    The Cham Shan Temple located in the heart of honeymoon capital Niagara Falls, Canada. These sacred temple grounds were the perfect setting for our stylized wedding session. Our lovebirds Heather & Ryan were just as amazed and overwhelmed by the tranquility and beauty that surrounded them.  As we stepped through the monumental gates a sense of peace washed over us.  We were astounded to realize that the temple was only steps away from the iconic natural wonder, the Niagara Falls.  The atmosphere was warm and inviting.  Ryan, our groom- to- be was all to proud to show off his beloved Superman belt buckle and Heather was just a beautiful blushing bride.  We spent the afternoon in the warm sun, taking in our surrounding and playing with parasols.  Truly this was a shoot to remember.

    I couldn’t resist.
Here is another sneak peak from the workshop that I attended this past Saturday at the Hampton Convention Center.  I’m hard at work in the studio tonight trying to get through my editing homework and realize that there is nothing quite like seeing a beautiful image come to light….  Lauren is one of those natural models and I have to say my camera was *crushing* on her BIG TIME.  Enjoy!

    Cheers.

    What a fun way to celebrate an engagement than a photo shoot on the beach and oh, did I mention the beer?  Yes, it turns out that we share a love of Stella Artois and so in keeping with the laid back, relaxed yet romantic session I had imagined for them we topped of the last images of the night as the sun was setting with a couple of beers.  Oh, and I forgot to mention our first images were taken just a few blocks away at a Bait & Tackle shop!  Yes, I couldn’t resist the aqua marine blue building and had always fancied this as the perfect backdrop for a session and I couldn’t have been happier with the result.  The colors were perfect for this couple and how fitting, in the end we achieved our relaxed romantic session with bait, beach and beer!

    The Downtown Girls.

    Leanne wanted a fun and hip portrait session for her to share with her daughter Grace.  So I couldn’t think of a more fitting place than Granby Street in Downtown Norfolk.  I was excited to learn that we both share a love for historic downtown architecture as we both grew up in Canadian cities where old historic buildings were commonplace. So it was kind of a blast from the past and fun spot to take Leanne’s and Grace!

    At last.

    For the last few weeks I’ve been anxiously waiting by the phone for the *call*.  The call to grab my camera and head for the hospital because we’re having a baby!  I must admit, I’ve fallen in love with this couple, they are just the sweetest most amazing couple I’ve met in quite some time.  Awhile back when I spoke with Rhane over the telephone (what was supposed to be just a routine inquiry call for a maternity shoot) turned into a three hour conversation and at the end of our call, was asked to capture all three of the beautiful stages of Rhane’s life, maternity, birth and a newborn session.   I couldn’t believe how fast it was and what seemed like a matter of a few moments he graced us with his presence and Jared was now here.  Welcome to the world little one!

    A Vintage Love Story. { Jen & Christopher’s Sneak Peak Engagement Collection}

    I loved this session.  From the moment Jen told me of her love of all things vintage inspired and oh yeah she is also a swing dancer I nearly jumped out of my seat with excitement.  These two lovebirds are so in hip and fun- I can’t wait to see how cool their wedding is going to be….

    Hungry…? Meet delicious! {A FOOD COLLECTION}

    SPOTLIGHT: A TEREBINTH A PATISSERIE & BISTRO

    I must admit this was my very FIRST food photo shoot… and I was just a wee bit nervous.  I’m not sure why I was, but I believed I was completely out of my element so to speak.  I photograph people not food.  But, I jumped at the chance when Kisha, the creative force and proprietor of Terebinth A Patisserie & Bistro asked me to photograph some of her most popular lunch and dessert items.  I frequent her bistro often, because the atmosphere is relaxed, sophisticated and laid back. And the food is beyond delicious.  It is a must if you happen to find yourself in the Greenbrier area of Chesapeake.  If you stop in to Terebinth (located in the plaza shops behind the Target on Greenbrier Pkwy) you must try the Queen Bee bar or the Elvis cupcake and tell her Malie says hi.

    For directions, Terebinth A Patisserie & Bistro 717 Eden Way N, Suite 610 Chesapeake 23320
